Posting Rules - Read Before Posting New Questions

By adhering to the simple rules and suggestions below, you contribute to a better experience for yourself, other members, and our moderators. Mis-categorized or poorly-posted questions can cause confusion and diminish the quality of forum content. Such posts may also lead to stress and disorganization. Following these 13 clear guidelines can foster a positive forum experience and even improve your GMAT performance! If this is not enough motivation, please be aware that disregarding or violating these rules may result in post removals, warnings, and potential bans. We kindly ask you to follow the rules. Thank you!

1. Use the Search Box Before Posting.
  • We have 30,000 questions discussed. It's likely that your intended post already exists: Forum Search

2. Select the Appropriate Forum.

3. Assign a Relevant Topic Name (IMPORTANT).
  • Use the first sentence of the question for the topic name. You have 40 characters at your disposal. Make the most of them to aid with search functionality and the similar topics feature!

4. Post Only One Question per Topic.
  • Avoid posting multiple questions in the same post, as it hinders timer, search, tags, and other functions.

5. Do Not Alter the Question.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the original question is crucial. Every word in a question is there for a reason!

6. TYPE the Question and Solution as Text.
  • Refrain from posting pictures of questions or solutions.

7. Indicate the OA (Official Answer)
  • Utilize the A, B, C, D, E radio buttons and ensure you post the answer choices.

8. Include Answer Choices for PS Questions
  • Ensure all questions are accompanied by A, B, C, D, E answer choices!

9. Apply Tags to Your Questions.

10. Refrain from Short/Useless Posts (they will be deleted) and Use the Kudos Button Instead.
  • When answering a question, ensure your post adds value. Responses like "+1 A," "Awesome solution!" or "Great Question!" don't qualify. Press the Kudos button instead.

11. ONLY Reliable GMAT Source Questions Allowed on the Forum!
  • Do NOT post questions from random math books or websites. Avoid posting self-made questions in PS/DS forums; use this topic instead: Users' Self-Made Questions Non-GMAT questions will be deleted without notice.

12. Do NOT Request Kudos in Your Posts.
  • Posts that deserve kudos will eventually receive them. Refrain from asking others to give Kudos to your posts publicly or privately.

Thank you! We appreciate your understanding and support. Good luck on the GMAT!

11 Rules for Posting

Please Read Before Posting New Questions

Following the simple rules and suggestions below can help you, other members, and our moderators to be happier people. Yes, truly, we will all be happier! When you create mis-catagorized, or poorly-posted quant questions, it leads to confusion and diminishes the valuable forum content. It also makes our lives stressful and disorganized. However, if you follow these 11 simple suggestions, you can expect great karma, good looks, and extra points on the GMAT! If by chance that did not convince you, ignoring or breaking these rules will likely lead to removed posts, warnings, eventual bans, and a possible hair loss. Please follow the rules. Thank you!

1. Use the Search Box Before Posting.

- We have 30,000 questions discussed. Chances are the one you wanted to post is already there.

2. Choose the Right Forum.

- - Please post CR questions in the CR subforum, SC questions in the SC subforum, and RC questions in the RC subforum. No posting of CR/SC/RC questions is allowed in the main ]Verbal forum.

3. Give a Topic Name (IMPORTANT).

- Use the first sentence of the question or a string of words exactly as they show up in the question. You get 40 characters. Use them all to help with the search & similar topics feature! Please do not post something like this (a title "CR6!!", I keep it around as an example).

4. Post Only one Question per Topic.

- Please do not post multiple questions in the same post as it makes timer, search, tags, and other functions irrelevant.

5. Do not Change the Question.

- It is extremely important that the integrity of the original question is maintained. Remember, every word that is included in a question is there for a reason!

6. TYPE the Question in as Text.

- Do not post pictures of questions. There is no acceptance for question with picture. We - moderators and admin - will delete and warn the authors in case of posting image..

7. Indicate the OA (Official Answer)

- Use the A, B, C, D, E radio buttons and make sure you post the answer choices.

8. Tag Your Questions.

- At least 3 tags are required: difficulty level (in your opinion), question category, and source of the question. You are welcome to use more tags as applicable. You can also TAG other people’s posts to make them more valuable. You can see the positive results of using tags here: Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Sentence Correction. Also check our entire Question Bank by Tags.

9. Avoid Short/Useless Posts (they will be deleted) and use the Kudos Button Instead.

- If you choose to answer a question, please answer only if your post adds value. Saying “+1 A” or “Great Question!” does not. Pressing the Kudos button does.

10. The posted comments and questions must be specific to the subject.

Please make sure they contain valuable (information)/necessary (question), impersonal, and professional. Purpose of adding comment to the existing thread needs to adhere to at least one of the following.
(a) Unique question - some question that is not discussed before.
(b) Discussion on unresolved issues/questions and unsatisfactory answers.
(c) Some information that is not a repeat and that is truly a value addition for other members.
(d) Correction to some earlier incorrect information which nobody addressed.

11. No bullying: Attacking any member personally is offensive and that behavior is discouraged.

Discussion need to be bound within correctness/wrongness of the subject content and NOT the person.

Thank you! We appreciate your understanding and support. Good luck on the GMAT! If you have any comments for these rules, please give here and we will consider changing to increase the effective posting.

Can you suggest if I can present my specific queries after posting the question.
If so, which place is correct to place such queries after question and OA?
I see only message body and a lot of people may get distracted to eliminate POE based on my posted queries.

Hi adkikani ,

You can always add your query as a spoiler below your question. This way, people answering your question can check your specific query.

Thank you abhimahna, Can you please make the source tag which says OTHER editable since I am not able
to edit it. Additionally please add POWESCORE CR BIBLE as one of the sources in the tag.

1. You can use Deferred Official Answer when you want people to discuss a question not knowing the OA so to initiate the debate.

2. You can use a poll if you want users to vote on something. For example:
Do you use any material other than official? Yes/No

Hi! I just wanted to know whether it's wrong to ask for kudos at the end of a question I've just posted. Thanks!

I'd say a good post will get kudos sooner a later, no need to ask for it.

I want to say one thing Please! Please! Please! add the source of the question. A lot of well known prep companies' Source Tags are built in and available while we post the question. If your particular source tag is not available kindly add source at the very end of the question like this one

https://gmatclub.com/forum/the-percenta ... 36311.html

Source shows the credibility level of the question and it is important.

PS: I Also have many posts without mentioning source, they were posted initially when i joined the Club and was not aware of the rules. Now whenever i came across such posts as without source, i just edit them and add source.

Thanks

How do I post a new topic to a specific sub-forum? In this case Verbal Resources....
When I go to the said sub-forum, there is no option of 'New Topic'

You cannot start new topics in that forum. It is a forum for the best topics. Only moderators are allowed to start new topics there. That’s for him it is reserved for the best of the best resources. Moderators determine what’s best and move it there.

Got it, thanks. I posted a thread for an error log created (did not exist on gmc before) and selected 'Resources' - hope it gets tagged right

Cheers
