1)Do adcoms prefer to see the impact on monetary grounds ?? and can I highlight my non profit contribution to compensate it??
2)Also is it okay to highlight in the essay, as one reason, that I took up the nonprofit opportunity coz I felt that my job lacked the opportunity of developing significant leadership skills??

The average GMAT at your target schools is much higher. Therefore, I would recommend aiming for 730+ GMAT. If that is a challenge, see if GRE is a better fit. The best things to do is to take GRE and GMAT mocks. GMAT becomes even more important when you take into account a low GPA.
In the optional essay and even when explaining your goals, show your strengths and avoid over-indexing on the challenges. Of course, tie everything back to your desire to help others.
Kellogg, Stern, Cornell Johnson and Tepper all have excellent tech offerings that open doors for you.
