So good to see Fuqua hopefuls here. I had the chance of chatting with Dan McCleary - Adcom at Fuqua and I will post it soon.

I am thinking about R1 (any binding agreement scares me honestly. Plus I am poor so might not go unless I get some form of scholarships).

Classof2020 : care to share your Durham experience? What did you at campus in your visit?

Also how many of you are considering the open interview period?

Nice. I couldn't make it to the reception. How was it?

The reception was good. The alumuni were very helpful. I was on a wheelchair due to a massive injury hence could not spend much time - but fuqua seems more practical in evaluating applications.
also- quoting Dan - making a trip ESPECIALLY for the open interview is not worth it.

Hey Sonikavadhera,

Can you expand 'more practical in evaluating applications' part. What made you think like that?

sveniga4 - I mean they only want to take people who they are sure will accept fuqua - meaning if they have an application of someone with an absolutely perfect profile (780 GMAT, 4.0 GPA, relevant work ex etc. etc.) , they assume that fuqua is a back up for the guy and he may switch to other better schools and hence may be more willing to accept someone with a 730 who has a profile more relevant to fuqua culture. coz they don't want to waste the seat by giving it to someone who may reject it later.

Hi souvik101990, can you please post your chat with Dan McCleary - the adcom at Duke? Would really appreciate the same!

Fuqua does not play the yield management game. We accept the best candidates and win them over with our culture. If someone is willing to spend the time to apply for the school, write kick butt essays, rock the interview, they are probably interested in the school. If someone with "good" stats just drop an application without putting effort into the rest of the application, they'll probably get dinged. Fuqua is about admitting humble candidates who will put their best foot forward on everything they do. Quite a few of my classmates turned down ultra-elite admittances (H/S/W) for Fuqua.

Applying ED. Unfortunately have not been able to visit the school (other than an informal visit when class was not in session a couple years ago) due to a 13+ month overseas military deployment. I still believe it's the best fit for me though- really like how Duke is more "whole person" when evaluating applications. I think it makes for a far stronger and more interesting class. Best of luck to all of you during your admissions process.

It shouldn't impact your candidacy. I didn't visit prior to my interview. I did make a point to interview on campus to show interest in the school.
