Calling all HKUST MBA Applicants: 2023 Intake Class of 2025 : HKUST MBA - Page 3

phoenixkami glad it finally went through.. also how many interviews did u have 1 or 2?

Updated on: Nov 21, 2022

I had 1 interview. Normally it is one interview, I think. I remember admission consulting sessions with HKUST mentioned that. Those of you who have dates starting at Nov 30 probably because the previous slots were filled. When I register for mine, I saw multiple slots at different dates. They probably send invites out in batches. But mostly right after they have all your supporting documents listed on the portal.

Honestly though, the application process is pretty straightforward, and the portal is easy to use. Admissions are also very friendly and responsive to questions. Though I think they could do better in advertising the school program in more details. As it stands, the website is pretty vague in terms of campus life, activities on campus etc. The only thing is that I felt the interview is pretty scary haha. It is conducted by 2 profs and admissions listening in. There is a lot more digging I feel in your profession. Perhaps my work experience is a bit different. No big brand names.

Honestly, the best advice is probably to be yourself. Just have a fun conversation. Let admissions do their job whether to take you or not. Most importantly, just enjoy the whole process. What is done has already been done. The interview is really to put a face to an app and see if you are who you claim to be.

You will hear back once the admissions make you an offer. The email will come after interview. There will also be a call from admission detailing the offer, your interview performance etc.

Congrats!
I had the interview on 30th Nov but quite surprised that they just asked me a lot of general questions...
I am wondering how could you compare the other MBA programs in HK, such as HKU and CUHK, with HKUST?

Many thanks.

The 3 schools you listed are probably what most people would agree as the best 3 MBA schools in HK. In my opinion it is HKUST > HKU > CUHK. HKUST has been a great program historically and still has a great record to show. The admission process feels more selective and through. HKUST has strong placements in IB and other great finance roles post-MBA. The career report is a lot more detailed which is a good sign. On a personal front, I had great consultation sessions with admissions. They have been really helpful and caring throughout the entire process. I think it all comes down to what you want from your MBA. If I have offer from all these schools, I would personally go for HKUST.

Thanks a lot for quick response. I can’t agree more with "The career report is a lot more detailed in UST". Hope I could see you in UST next year, hhh.
