Hi! I'm planning to apply in R2!

I am from Mexico, 23 years old and I graduated from law school in December 2020 with honors and with a 4 GPA. I have 4 years of work experience in a top law firm in the country specializing in project finance (energy and infrastructure).

I am also an active angel investor, passed the CFA level 1 in February this year, and started an angel syndicate for LATAM investors to invest in Mexican and LATAM startups. We already made our first investment and we're working with several more interesting startups. This kind of syndicate is fairly new in Mexico (there are probably other 4 in the country), so I expect to make a real impact in the startup ecosystem here.

I'd love to connect and share tips on the application process and essays!

The R1 deadline for the MBA is 10 September 2021

Does LBS require only one referee ?

Two referees. I’d advise you to attend one of the Friday LBS ’MBA Overview’ sessions so you can get basic details about the application process.

Hey guys! Can I submit a client testimonial as an LoR for MiM? I’ve mostly worked as a freelancer so I can’t really get one from an ’employer’.

Did you check if they have a specific format or is it an open-ended recommendation?

Some schools are fairly open minded about excepting client submitting the letter of recommendation. In this case, you would enter the clients email address in the recommended field and they would receive the form and the questions. However, you cannot submit a testimonial instead of a letter of recommendation.

PS. Also, this is an MBA discussion topic. And you’re asking a pretty silly MiM question

Yep, seems like they've just updated that. Apologies. They had earlier put up an older PDF on the website stating that two referees are required, but seems like they've changed it now. I just listened to the latest MBA Overview session as well and they mentioned that they might just be asking for one referee this time around, and it should get confirmed on the website, which I now think it is.

Just got a mail confirming the same as well: We have made some changes to the existing application process. For MBA2024 applications:

we only require one reference
we have reduced the number of application deadlines from four to three. Details of the three rounds are below.

Yea makes sense cause I too saw one referee and got confused as the previous batches had to submit 2

Is there any good chances of getting into LBS.

Congratulations on the score. However, without a strong application (especially ifnyou have any handicap) it won’t do you much good.

You next step would be to do equally well on essays, recommendations and interviewes.
