Where are all the Stern folks? Stern released new set of essays this year and they look very creative. How are you guys planning to approach the essays?

Posting the essay topics here!
Three required essays for 2017 :

Essay 1 – Professional Aspirations (500 words):
What are your short and long-term career goals?
How will the MBA help you achieve them?
This is an awesome, straightforward question. Why do you even want an MBA? That’s what they need to know. (Our Career Goals App Accelerator is perfectly suited to helping you identify the framework for this!)

Essay 2 – Program Selection (1 or optionally 2 essays, 250 words each):
Primary Program: Please indicate the primary MBA program for which you would like to be considered, as indicated in the Primary Program Selection section of the application. Explain why the program you have selected is the best program for you. (250 words)
Optional: Please indicate any alternative program(s) for which you would also like to be considered, as indicated in the Alternative Program Selection section of the application and why you would also like to be considered for this/these program(s). (250 words)

Stern’s friendly testimonial is just one of the ways business schools are rethinking the recommendations required for admission to M.B.A. programs

Stern to find out your emotional intelligence through your friends.

I hope they are not going to use the words "emotional intelligence" in the doc as I think outside of the bschool OB classes, nobody knows this term
outside of academia. I am yet to overhear someone bragging about the size of their emotional intelligence....

Wouldnt bragging make it ironical to talk about emotional intelligence? 8-)

Does anyone know when the deposit deadline is for R1?

Why is the thread dead? loss of interest in Stern or loss of interest on Gmat Club?

Sep 28, 2017

Hey Guys!

I applied on 15th Sept deadline for Stern Tech MBA as my first preference, and the full-time MBA as second. Haven't heard anything from them yet. Anyone else applied in Tech MBA?

Thanks!

I wonder if it's the post trump age. Even the Columbia thread looks thin.

Hi johndoe2016,

I am a reapplicant to Stern and I applied in the 15th Sept deadline. You would have to use the optional essay as the reapplicant essay and show how have you strengthened your profile since last year.

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I just received an interview invite for Stern's Tech MBA program. But the location for interview is mentioned as New York, and since i am in India, I wont be able to interview on campus. Kindly suggest what should I do?

Thanks!

Congrats! Normally they interview candidates in India in March, that is if the candidate is not willing to travel to New York. Check with the Adcom. But that may put you at disadvantage when it comes to scholarships. And if they have admitted candidates similar in profile to yours prior to your interview, then you would again be at disadvantage. So weigh the pros and cons. If you really want to get into Stern, go to New York. I think most people are mentally prepared for this before applying.

Funding
To obtain a student visa for full-time study, you must demonstrate the ability to pay for your entire first year of study in the U.S. You also will be required to indicate the source(s) of funding for your second year. The funding section of the International Student Supplement helps you start preparing for the visa application process by encouraging you to plan your finances early. Even if you cannot fully support your first year, please indicate your sources of partial funding. For visa purposes, you should not include potential merit scholarships or loans as sources of funding. However, international students are considered for merit scholarships.

Why do they make contrasting statements? First they say you can indicate sources of partial funding. But for visa, you cannot include loans? So, we have to show personal resources for visa? Any international students here who have dealt with this?

Hi sidiitm2004. I think they mean that you cannot include potential loans and potential scholarships - ones you assume will get, but don't have them approved yet. It's my opinion though:)
