Thanks a ton for your review of Rotman.
Hopefully, we will have you to guide us with our application process!

Welcome to the forum! Any idea by when are the deadlines going to be out?

Jun 14, 2017

Planning to apply this year.

No idea what will happen. My GMAT score is low. Waiting for the essays.

Jun 16, 2017

Hi all,

Quick question : can i continue writing the essay which is on the site or should I wait for the next essay... Rotman has a rolling admissions system.... so a bit confused.. please help!

I don't think the essays are always the same. And its better to wait for the official release.
That being said, the essays are mostly about the professional goals/life post MBA.
You can probably start working on a skeletal framework

Btw, these are the essays for the last two years :

As we still have some time for the essays and deadlines,
If I were you, I would take another shot at the GMAT.
Considering the uncertainties in the US, I feel things are going to be extremely competitive at Canada this year.
Also, Rotman is by-far the most competitive business school in Canada.

Disclaimer : Please take the above advice with a pinch of salt, as I have just written this with my limited experience.
I am first time applicant and yet to take the GMAT.

Jun 16, 2017

I would argue that any GMAT under 670 would not be competitive... I would not try to apply with a GMAT that's lower than the average.

However, that is only looking at GMAT alone. Your GPA is pretty high, and you have consulting experience. It's just how it's leveraged and how you tell your story.

Yes I agree. I will try and improve my score by the September. Lets see what I can manage this time. I agree for a guy like me with less professional experience (though i have 12+4+2 years academic experience)of around 3- 4 years will have to have a strong GMAT score to make it to Rotman. US effect will be there I am sure.

I'm also going to argue that it isn't how much work experience you have, but how progressive your experience is.

If I were a recruiter, I would take someone who went from an analyst, to a consultant, to an engagement manager within four years than someone who took six years to go from analyst to consultant.

Just sayin'.

Good news, guys. The application deadlines are out.

113 days to go for the R1 deadline!

I have a query regarding the Minimum Admission Requirements. In the website, it is mentioned that for Indian candidates, a minimum GPA of 7.5/10 from Indian Institutes of Technology or 8.0/10 from other institutions is needed. Does it make sense to apply with a GPA of less than 3.0 on a scale of 4?

In order to have your query addressed, you could post this question in the following thread:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/
Additionally, our weekly consultant chats are best to meet consultants one-on-one and
ask these questions or anything else regarding MBA applications!

Alternatively, you can also contact previous admits
Applicant list of previous Rotman admits can be found in the first page of
Rotman Class of 2019 thread.

You could PM the admitted candidates for clarification!
This is the group of the admitted candidates for the class of 2019.

Hope this helps!

Exactly 100 days to go for the Round 1 deadline!

Hows everybody doing?
For those who are done with your GMAT, how are the essays coming along?
For those who have not, have you scheduled the GMAT?

I am yet to book my GMAT date, but planning to apply by Round1.
Anybody in the same boat?

Me too in the same boat. I started with application and completed the Toefl exam (got 103). I am planning to give the GMAT by August. Let's see what happens. All the best to you guys for the GMAT.

What will your area of concentration if you get selected at Rotman ?

Glad to know there are other people in the same boat,pulkitsharma9991

Regarding the area of concentration,
As I have an entrepreneurial background (with most of my experience in managing
my family business dealing in Retail - Ready made garments),
I was thinking, something like Brand Management for now
But, then again this keeps of changing from time to time. :-D

What about you, somtsat99?

My experience has been in the engineering consultancy sector related to chemicals and fertilisers. I plan to work post mba in consulting or operations sector. Not sure like you :)

IMO, it makes sense to have a specific type of experience(like in your case)
In the few years you have already been working, you would have developed a specific skillset,
which could be favorable for an internship or jobs post MBA.
In my case, it is very difficult to quantify my experience to the requirement of the employer!

Pushpitkc

I am not an expert but I think entrepreneurial experience will surely demonstrate leadership potential and innovation skills. So I don't think getting an internship will be difficult. What depends is how you tune yourself up in the span of two years at Rotman. That's what matters I guess.

Hi,

Can any current student or Alum throw some light onto how is Rotman for an Indian candidate interested in a career in Product Management in tech? Which are the major companies willing to hire internationals and in what numbers do they recruit?
