Essays

The Admissions Committee wants to get to know you on both a professional and personal level. We encourage you to be introspective, candid, and succinct. Most importantly, we suggest you be yourself. First-time applicants and reapplicants are required to complete the same set of essay questions.

Questions, Class of 2017:
1. (Required) What do you hope to gain both personally and professionally from the Wharton MBA? (500 words)

2. (Optional) Please use the space below to highlight any additional information that you would like the Admissions Committee to know about your candidacy. (400 words)

Additional Question for Reapplicants:
All reapplicants to Wharton are required to complete the Optional Essay. Explain how you have reflected on the previous decision about your application, and discuss any updates to your candidacy (e.g., changes in your professional life, additional coursework, extracurricular/volunteer engagements). You may also use this section to address any extenuating circumstances. (250 words)

Alumni in Hong Kong speaking to prospective students

A quiet week on campus is always a sign that travel season has begun and the Admissions team is scattered around the world. The Wharton Global Forum Beijing was held last week, bringing together faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry leaders to network and speak to the theme of “Growth through Innovation.” You can find highlights from the event here to give you a glimpse inside the Forum.

On the heels of the Forum, the Admissions team enjoyed traveling to different cities in Asia to meet with prospective students and local alumni at our admissions events. Following the visit to Beijing, the team traveled to Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and in the coming days will be holding more admissions events throughout Europe – Moscow, Paris, London and Madrid.

As always, we encourage you to continue monitoring our website as additional events are confirmed. AGREED. I just began the essay-writing-process today. This is going to be a long road.

Aside from the Global Practicum, does Wharton have any other experiential learning/hands-on classes?

I think so, though you may have to look at the curriculum, quite a number of classes are hands-on. Also there's the leadership venture which I think is also part of it. This: https://wlp.wharton.upenn.edu/experiential-learning.cfm is a good place to start your research.

The essay is tougher than I'd imagined it would be. Hang in there.
