My 720 experience : Share GMAT Experience

Updated on: Mar 24, 2007

My stats:
Q: 49, 90%ile
V : 40, 90%ile

720, 96%ile

- Total Preparation Time: 1 month, 20 days

- Do not waste time on the first 1/3rd questions of any section (but for sentence correction) in OG. The final 1/3rd questions are only worth your time.

- Do not trust Kaplan scores: My scores: 600, 670, 590, 620; Kaplan Quants is too easy, verbal is good.

- Manhattan - Buy the Sentence correction book, you get the free online tests as well. I took only 2 of the 4 tests though, again, do it just to see a variety of questions; do not get bothered by the score.

- Princeton: What a waste !

- Gmatprep: Take both exams, reinstall; Should not repeat more than 4 questions in any section. Make sure you can solve every SENTENCE CORRECTION from GmatPrep, I got 2 questions FROM GMATPrep in my ACTUAL GMAT, good for me, I did not have to think before clicking the answer.

-GmatClub Challenges: Teach really nice shortcuts to solve problems. The level of questions is higher than GMAT, but practicing them helped me cut down my careless mistakes, and I learnt to perform under pressure. Besides, I could see how others faired on these questions, and that gave me confidence,

- I do not understand why, but the questions in actual GMAT Quants were way easier than anything I had seen before, much easeir than even GMATprep.

- If you are affluent in English, do not bother going through the whole list of essays and arguments, go through some of them and write a couple just to get in the groove.

Oh, and my GmatPrep scores:
(1) 710
(2) 670
Re-install, about 4 questions repeated in every section:
(1) 750
(2) 720

Thanks for the insight

ABout the Challenges, don't you think they're pretty expensive and since they do not represent the actual GMAT question they're not woth the $80 ?

Mar 25, 2007

Yes, GMAT Challenges could be cheaper. I had to think a lot before buying them.

Congratulations lucky man!

Could you please confirm again that It is possible to challenge different questions after reinstallation of GMATPrep. I don't want to spoil the second untouched test from GMATPrep

Congratz!! :-D

I hope actual quant is easier!

(If it weren't for the quant in GMATPrep, I would've taken the test today!! :) )

Yes, when I reinstalled, there were barely 4 -5 questions per section that I had seen in the prior install..
