Manhattan Prep - Dave Mahler

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9-week course with Dave Mahler in New York and had a great experience. I had already taken the GMAT once before, but did not get my desired score and decided that the best way to improve would be to sign up for a class. Dave was very helpful through the entire process and made the course really engaging (not an easy task for a 3-hour evening weekday slot). Even more impressive is how attentive Dave has been (and continues to be) even after my official time with the course has concluded - he has offered to continue helping me by analyzing my CAT exam scores and hop on phone calls to help talk through ways to improve. Thanks to Dave and the staff at Manhattan Prep for the helpful study materials and personalized instruction

David Mahler at Manhattan Prep is awesome!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

When I started my GMAT journey, I scored a 490 on my first Manhattan CAT. I was certainly not one of those "Score a 740 in 20 days" stories. In David's Manhattan prep class I learned all of the ground-up framework necessary to understand the GMAT and strategize how to conquer it. Equally as important, as the COVID-19 crisis emerged, David and Manhattan prep made the transition to online learning seamless. At this point David and I had started private tutoring and he was able to give me a structured workload with followup meetings to keep me on track. As I continued to advance, David and I dug deeper into different strategies to tackle the toughest questions while reinforcing the framework that was built in the beginning. After scoring a 680 GMAT on my first run, there was no panic and David refocused my approach to improve on my weakest sections. The results speak for themselves and on my second go, I scored a 740. I am over the moon with my score and how far I've come, and I can not thank David enough for his help and guidance!

100% Recommend Ryan McGorman

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the Manhattan Prep 9-session GMAT prep course with Ryan McGorman, and I really appreciated the emphasis on both the Verbal and Quant sections. Ryan focused on providing effective test taking techniques and overviews of exam content.

After completing the course, I signed up for additional tutoring sessions with Ryan. In these sessions, we focused on tackling my weaknesses and clarifying strategies for time management. With his help, I was able to score a 710 on my first try at the GMAT, and I know the strategies I learned will help me score even higher next time.

If you're looking for a top notch GMAT tutor, Ryan is your guy!

Manhattan Prep in person course: A great place to start

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took my first diagnostic test back in Nov 2017 and scored a 520. I decided to do a 9 session in person class with Manhattan Prep every Saturday. Ryan was an awesome instructor and the class was very collaborative. He created a great learning environment, where my classmates and I strove to help each other understand tricky questions and materials. The course provided a great framework for my GMAT studying. However, I do think most people will need to study for several months or use other services to propell them to higher scores. After Manhattan Prep I scored a 640 & 670 respectively. It wasn't until I used tutoring and TTP that I was able to get to my target score (740).

Raised my score by 150 points!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I had a great experience with Manhattan Prep! My starting practice GMAT score was 560 and my final official score was 710. A 150 point increase!! I took the class in NYC with Reed Arnold, and I highly recommend taking the course especially with him. Reed made the classes very enjoyable and effective, and he scheduled weekly "study groups" at a nearby coffee shop for students to get extra help from him and other classmates. I went to a couple of the study groups and was able to ask him about specific problems, and get detailed explanations for them. The Manhattan Prep guide books were a great resource, too. I studied about 25-30 hours per week outside of class for about 8 weeks, so you can't expect the course to raise your score without your own self-guided study. Manhattan Prep was the an awesome resource, along with the Wiley guides.

If you actually take their advice, you'll improve your score.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Manhattan Prep knows what they are doing. Their teachers are experienced and will undoubtedly help you improve your score. Beyond some essential strategies for approaching timing and specific question types, the most valuable thing this class will teach you is how to study for the test. The test is overwhelming enough, so for me, having a class that helped me focus my study time and energy was invaluable. My only gripe is that I wish the class was more affordable so as not to disadvantage those who can't dish out ~$1,500 in addition to the cost of actually taking the test. It would also be great if they had a program to sell back the books from the class, assuming they are in good condition.

Reed - The Real Deal

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Manhattan Prep provides an unparalleled experience. As a test taker who has worked with two different companies, I must admit that Manhattan Prep offers the most value and the best services. I enrolled in the 9-session GMAT prep course and had the pleasure of working with Reed Arnold. Reed was friendly from day 1 and somehow found a way to help me actually enjoy my 3-month study period !

Reed led classes with a unique style that incorporated humor, lessons from his past and proven best practices. Reed always paused for any questions and had an impressive way of ensuring that all students would leave each class feeling positive and confident. Even more impressive, Reed remained available at all times by keeping his promise that he would always respond to any question or urgent request for advice via email! I personally emailed Reed on a weekly basis and am very happy to report that he consistently responded with thoughtful and timely responses and extremely helpful insights. Reed truly cares about all of his students and will take time out of his day or weekend to help any student.

Working with Reed helped me move my overall GMAT score to a 680. I am very happy with this score and was able to make a massive quant jump (37 before to 47 after) because of the combination of Reed's abilities as an instructor and the high-quality/comprehensive structure of the Manhattan Prep course. I plan to take the test again on July 5th and feel confident that I am now capable of scoring even higher!

Best Quant Tutoring

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I did Manhattan Prep's online tutoring with Dan Patinkin and had a fantastic experience. Dan was great and helped me get 170 points of improvement from my baseline exam. He was fantastic about giving me direction and structuring my studies.

I also think that Manhattan Prep's practice exams, quant strategy guides, and advanced quant guide are the absolute best you can get. I highly recommend making flash cards instead of taking notes as you go through so that you can review more easily to prevent knowledge attrition. For Quant, I also found that the best way to study was to go through advanced quant worksets and make sure to ALWAYS USE A STOPWATCH TO TIME 2 MINUTES PER QUESTION whenever you do quant. Manhattan Prepwill give you all the tools you need to get a good score if you're willing to put in the work to learn!

Amazing instructor Ceilidh and excellent course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

After struggling with the GMAT for a year and not moving past the mid-600s, I decided to sign up for a Manhattan GMAT live class. Some people I know who previously took the class spoke very highly of the course. Ceilidh Erickson was the instructor and she was amazing.

She not only did a great job of teaching the basic skills and formulas but also taught us how to think and attack each question logically. During class, she addressed everyone’s needs and she was great at reading how people were absorbing the material. She showed different logical techniques which helped save time, eliminate answers, and guess and move on. These techniques are what she uses on the test such as spending the first few seconds with the pen down on quant and crossing off extreme answers on the RC section. These techniques are KEY when solving the tougher questions because the test is adaptive. When we did practice questions, she showed us multiple ways to solve a problem and this helped add to the arsenal of methods to use during the actual test so you don’t get stuck.

After the course, I wanted to work on a few specific areas and set some hours for tutoring with Ceilidh to make sure I would surpass the 700 level. I debated on spending the money but decided to go for it because in the end, it’s a small investment for the future. We spent about 3 hours going through my weaknesses to sure those up and she showed me some new techniques and ways to think about solving problems before I actually put pen to paper. After another month of studying, I was testing above the 700 level and booked the test.

I highly recommend taking either the class or tutoring with Ceilidh. I honestly don’t think I would have achieved the score I got without her. It’s and no regrets decision and well worth the money, time, and energy. Even after the class and tutoring, when I was studying on my own, she was always available to answer questions.

Perfect hassle free prep

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I wanted a way to study that would help me plan and manage my time around a busy work schedule. Manhattan GMAT was perfect because they included everything in the class package. The books were great references to keep me on track with review and the online tracking was incredibly helpful when I went back to review before the exam.
It was also great to have the classroom setting as part of the course. It held me accountable for progress and allowed me to better understand more difficult content.
Laurel is an amazing instructor, she used the class time well to emphasize more complicated concepts and consistently re-emphasized past content that was likely to come up. It was incredibly helpful to have her as a teacher (and cheerleader) in my exam prep.
