Profile Evaluation - Feedback Appreciated! : Peer Review

Nov 23, 2022

Hi GMAT Club Community,

I am planning on applying to my target list of B-Schools Round 2 (full time programs) this year. My profile is as follows:

Gender: Male
Age: 28 years
Location: United States (living in major city in Mid-Atlantic, from the Northeast)
Target schools: Georgetown, Emory, Cornell, Kenan-Flagler, Vanderbilt, Tepper, Mendoza

Work experience: ~5 years
Work as a senior manager (i.e., consultant) at a top 3 global real estate services firm (i.e., CBRE, JLL, Cushman & Wakefield) managing global portfolio accounts, including strategy, financial analysis and transactions. I have held four different roles across 2 companies. I have a vast amount of experience leading projects and teams, albeit only in the real estate space.

Education: Dual Major - Political Science & English from a top 35 Liberal Arts College
Very active in college (i.e., student government, teaching assistant, etc).
GPA: Magna Cum Laude (GPA: 3.74) with election to honors societies

Extra curriculars: I received a company award for embodiment of company principles
I am active in the rising leader organization within my company
Previously the chapter head for an organization within my previous company
Volunteers monthly at a food bank / community kitchen making meals
Enjoy carpentry (specifically making wooden surf boards), skiing, listening to NPR and beer making

GMAT score: 690 (V36 Q48 IR5 AWA6)

Can you please let me know how my candidacy stacks up? Any thoughts to target, reach and safety would be great too!

Target schools: Cornell, Stern, Haas, Fuqua
Reach: Kenan-Flagler, Tepper, Georgetown
Safe: Mendoza, Vanderbilt, Emory

You can drop the last (Safe) category.
Your work ex, GPA, GMAT are within reach of the first two categories.

Your essays will have to articulate your experiences so far, your short term aspirations and long term career trajectory in a coherent and humble manner.
You'd have to research each school's USPs and match them with your ask.
Make sure you include spikes or high-points in academic, work, personal life generously.

Remember, well rounded essays are make or break for ADCOMs. I could take a look at your essay drafts and help you structure them.

HI,

Overall, nice, well rounded profile. You have a blend of noteworthy work experience + ECAs+ hobbies. Shall give you material for the essays as well as the resume. Be sure to use these experiences to show your leadership experiences in both work and ECA spheres. From what I read, it sounds like you shall be able to get good LORs .

I would add UCLA to your list of programs as well, not sure if you are willing to go West, as there are no other programs on the list from that direction.

jeffreyadcom - I assume that the target vs. reach list is reversed? Any reason to suggest Fuqua and Haas as well? With a 690 feels like those are likely unattainable.

By reach, I mean, within Reach. Target would be stretch schools.
Having said that, you stand a good chance at all the target schools too including Fuqua and Haas.

Your profile would make up for the slightly lower GMAT score. You should focus on building stellar essays and I can be of great help.

Vanderbilt and Mendoza would be good target schools
I think you can get your scores boosted to a 720 easily- https://gmatclub.com/forum/beginner-to- ... l#p2313182
In such a case all the schools mentioned become competitive (target) to attain. A 720 puts you in above average bracket. I think given the work ex, undergrad, and accomplishments, fairly possible to get into these. Let me know if there is anything specific I can help with.

Your whole profile would more than make up for the modest GMAT deficit you have. You need to focus on constructing outstanding essays, and I can be of tremendous assistance to you in this endeavour.backrooms game
