Profile evaluation request (EU, 27 years old, 690 GMAT) : Ask mbaMission

Dec 5, 2022

First of all, my thanks to the mbaMission team for the help you're providing for free.

I just took my GMAT exam, receiving a solid 690 (Q47, V38).
-I'm working for last 2.5 years in Deloitte for the Financial Services department, participating mainly in Financial and Management Reporting projects. I also have almost a year of Internships/Trainee level works during my studying time.

-Educational background is an Acc&Fin BSc (majored in Finance) from the most esteemed Uni of my country (Greece), with a GPA of 7.12/10 (considered above average but not great)

-Extracurriculars include being a member of my Uni's Swimming Club during my studies and taking part in athletic events. I'm also a Community Leader in Deloitte for running the Hiking Team (that's a thing here), organizing monthly excursions and outdoor activities for coworkers and their families.

I'm aiming for MSc in Finance at some of the higher rated universities in Europe, with the aim to get in the financial and/or banking sector in the DACH region, or in Scandinavia.
Target Unis include :
Tier 1: HSG, Hec Paris, Bocconi, LSE(?)
Tier 2: WU Vienna, SSE, Mannheim, NHH (Norway)

What do you think my chances are for each of these goals? I think I should be mostly good for my T2 aims (only question mark is by this time they're mostly in the 2nd round of admissions), but after scoring a 690 I've been wondering if I could have a chance with one of the bigger fish as well.

Any general tips on what to emphasize on my essays etc would also be helpful.

Hello and thanks for your post!
We at mbaMission are experts on MBA programs, and unfortunately not on other graduate programs, such as a Master's in Finance. But since you posted here, I would still like to mention the MBA as a possibility for you, given your background.
From someone who worked at Deloitte for many years, I know what a feeder Deloitte is for top MBA programs, even in Europe. And I feel that you do have a solid profile to be admitted into a top European school, such as the T1 schools you listed like HEC and Bocconi. Assuming you have demonstrated solid leadership and analytical skills at Deloitte, applying with 3 years under your belt is sufficient. In terms of your stats, a 690 GMAT and an average GPA may also be sufficient.
If you were to wait until Round 1 next fall, you could aim at even the most competitive schools in Europe, such as INSEAD and LBS. You could spend the next 8 months boosting your profile.
For example, re-taking the GMAT to exceed 700 would be good. Otherwise, taking a supplemental course that is quantitative would also boost your quant profile.
In addition, you could take on more leadership roles not only at work, but outside of work as well. Ideally you could get involved in some non-Deloitte extracurricular activities, to show you would add value to the MBA community.
So this is just something else to consider, especially if you are not admitted into your top Master's in Finance schools.
Good luck!
