Involved working from the market entry of a cleaner fuel alternative to its retailing. This involved holding multiple direct discussions with various stakeholders ranging from various ministries to municipal commissioners to regulatory authorities as well as financial institutions. As a subject matter expert, I am currently a part of managerial level discussions that involve the Chairman as well as the Petroleum Minister in future roadmap creation activity for a Government initiative. Currently, I also lead the team which is working towards revamping the data management portal for 3 Oil Manufacturing Companies (OMCs): the team involves 30 odd officers combined from all OMCs.
Also in collaboration with MOPNG, I had headed the publicity plan for a pan India Govt initiative aimed at strategically targeting tier 1 and tier 2 cities for increasing market penetration of the alternative clean fuel.
Major initiatives: Designed the temporary database responsible for MIS creation for Ministry from scratch, which has lead to the idea of the current in-progress portal.
Designed a complete training module for the induction of officers in the newly formed department.
Managed a team of 8 officers in past.
Reached milestone of 10000 tons of product sold across India.
Promoted twice
Extra-Curricular:
I have worked on multiple CSR initiatives focussing on solving major problems like river pollution near pilgrimage sites, sanitary pad machine setup for access to women at affordable prices as well as biogas plant installation in parts of North India for provision of free food in community kitchens to 2000 villagers.
Have been a part of the Company's Business Development Cricket squad
At present, I am also preparing for Trinity College Grade 1 Piano Exam
During College I have been a coordinator for various events as well as winner in multiple case study events.
International Exposure: Full funded 3-month Research Internship at one of Germany's top universities.
Post-MBA goals: Work in a Management Consulting firm focussing on providing clean energy solutions to large enterprises.
I have no clue about target colleges to apply in USA and would really appreciate if you could throw some light on the colleges
Thanks in advance

Hi
rahul2006 hope this finds you well
You have an advantage over other applicants since you have a strong academic background, a strong GMAT, and a differentiated work sector. Your application success will be greatly influenced by how well you tell a compelling story to the colleges. In my opinion, the top 15 schools in the US should be your target schools, and I urge you to include the best schools in the EU and the UK. I am not accounting for the possibility that most colleges may be running late rounds if you apply for fall, and I'm only expressing my feedback about your profile's merits.
Being given a leadership position in a public sector venture early is a somewhat exceptional. Your interactions with senior leadership and the petroleum ministry highlight the value you contributed to high-profile initiatives that profoundly affect the nation's infrastructure. Make sure your stories are equally balanced when it comes to leadership and when it comes to drawing strategic conclusions from the projects you worked on. You can use this to create a compelling argument for switching to the industry of your choice. This naturally translates into your requirement to demonstrate a year-on-year growth progression through various abilities and professional experiences accumulated over time. Demonstrating meticulous research on your career prospect and connecting it to your motivations will take you closer to getting an admit.
The volunteer work you undertook outside your professional responsibilities impresses me just as much. It has the potential to make for some intriguing storytelling and shows your desire to work toward sustainable energy goals.
You must show a persistent interest in the energy industry in your application. A critical aspect of the application would be to defend how a business school fits into your career trajectory between the Public sector and Sustainable Energy strategy field. Popular areas of interest include Energy and Environment, Energy Finance, Alternative Energy, Cleantech, etc. If consulting is your goal, targeting top MBB feeder schools is a good idea.
In addition, you must show that you have done thorough research on alternate opportunities that are realistically within reach immediately following graduation. You may have to tweak your goal according to the school you apply to and companies that recruit in the particular geography. If you apply to an MBA program in the EU/UK or the USA, understand the pipelines for energy enthusiasts. LBS, INSEAD, and other Top schools in the EU/UK have special tie-ups for this pipeline. ExxonMobil, Chevron, and BP are some of the top recruiters in this domain. These companies also hire from Rice and McCombs in the Texas region, the Energy hotbed of the US.
Haas, Duke, and Kenan Flagler are other strong programs specializing in Energy.
You may also look at industry-specific leadership development programs in the short to mid-term such as the Siemens CEO Track, where you would be able to leverage your prior experience. It is best to reach out to the admissions offices of schools and understand what other leadership programs in the energy sector recruit from their cohorts. I cannot emphasize enough how much reading into the schools' responses can help you prepare a targeted list and set the right expectations.
Best wishes
