GATS Pune GMAT test center Review

GATS Pune GMAT test center Review
Positives about test center are
- test center was conveniently located. and two wheeler parking is available, four wheeler parking is not available, though i am not 100% of this,
- Location was easy to find and not too far from prime locations in pune city.
- staff was polite
- the noise level from external sources was none

and Negatives are restrooms are little dirty and its small test center.

There are many slots available from 9:15 AM in morning. I selected this center for two reasons, one because of its location and other because of morning slot was available at this center only.

BEST TEST CENTRE IN PUNE CITY

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

24th of May 2017, The test is kind of anxiety day also you need to be comfortable at the test centre in order to give a full swing test.
PEARSON test centre exactly a TOP NOTCH centre where you can comfortably rely on and be sure to focus on exam rather than anything else.

The process starts in this fashion,
1. Firstly, you would entre the centre with all the documents necessary (although AADHAR is now in 2022 accepted its far better if you have your passport with you) and this document will be checked along with your appointment letter.
2. They will ask to drop all your belonging into a locker of which a key will be given to you which can take inside the test area.
3. Dont worry about basic things like what should i do and can i use stuff of my own, NO!! Dont bring anything apart from what is required for test and if need a banana to have in between the test. Banana specifically because as an athlete i know it replenishes your energy and boosts your overall way of lousy feeling after those complex sentence correction sentences.
4. Water it already provided at the centre hence that too is not kind of big deal to be taken.

Now coming at the test centre details
1. It is completely friendly with all the staff and theyll guide with whatever you need.
2. Theyll make you sit for minutes until they assign you a PC which they need to in those time brackets.
3. Once you are alloted the facilities are extremely top notch you wont have any internet or hardware issues and thus no need to panic at any point in time

Great Test Centre and Courteous & Profession Staff

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

The Exam-Centre is well maintained and clean , all COVID protocols Followed and Safe distance maintained between each Candidate.
Parking facility : Underground Parking facility is there.
Washroom - The Washroom is just opposite to the centre, since it is in a commercial Building it is a shared washroom. However it is well maintained and you wont face any issue as such.

Invigilator Reviews : Professional and Helpful. (They also keep track of your break time, provided you inform them before hand)

Environment : Comfortable. Noise Cancelling Ear plugs provided, the Screens are pretty large and placed at a height.
If someone is used to laptop then they might take some time to get used to it.

Locker Facility is adequate and you can keep your eatables in there along with your jacket, please note that you are not allowed to wear jacket inside the examination hall.

Test centre

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

Range hill centre is not good, systems are old and noisy, traffic sounds are also disturbing.
Try considering WTC centre, that is way better but has less no of dates available.
Knowing the nearby surrounding, the infra is easily accessible and has the peaceful feel to it, apt to give the test.

All the best. Hope this was helpful

Range hill center has had several complaints on test centre staff amd no response on breaks too. Please be careful in picking dates and centre. It is really a demotion If the test centre is not comfortable or doesn’t have test taking ambience

Finally! A better test center for folks in Pune, India.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by post count [?]

I just took the test on September 24, 2019, and would like to share my experience of the test center. But, before I get into the details have you heard of ' The Butterfly Effect' - The flapping of wings of a tiny creature as small as a butterfly can even cause a storm.

The test center is located Tower2, World trade center, Eon free zone, Kharadi, Pune. it is not at all difficult to find the test center given the popularity of the landmark. But, it is located at one extreme end of the city. If like me, you are commuting from the other extreme end of the city it can take up to or over 2 hours(chances are you will face heavy traffic) to reach the test center. I would request that you plan your commute accordingly and keep at least half-an-hour as buffer. Reaching very early won't help you as the security won't allow you beyond the reception before 1 hour of your appointment. Still, if you reach very early there are couple of cafes located in the business park or the campus and you might consider waiting there.

Once you reached world trade center, you need to go to Tower 2 which is the first tower on the left as soon as you enter through the gate. You need to request the receptionist to check you in and she will ask for your ID and will click your digital photograph. After that, you will be provided with a temporary pass which authorizes you to go to test center located on the fifth floor.

Once you reach the fifth floor navigate and find the Pearson center as the tower consists multiple offices. Once you find it, it would suggest do not enter but rather check the nearest restroom and make yourself comfortable. Check, the time left and prepare yourself mentally for test. The gates of the test center are always locked and once you go near it security would be sitting on the other side of the glassdoor and will ask your appointment time. He will confirm with the admin and then let you in after you switch off your cellphone completely.

Now once you're in the admin will ask which exam you came for as the center conducts different exams at the same time. Once you confirm, he/she will ask for PASSPORT BOOK and will verify the details and will tell you the locker number in which you can put your belongings. He will give you a DO's and Dont's card and will ask to go through. Remember, you won't have enough time to make yourself comfortable so be prepared unlike me. All your belongings should be in your bag except eatables, medicines and eye drops that you want to access during breaks. You won't be allowed to wear the light sweater which GMAT HANDBOOK mentions and will have to store your jacket in the locker. Also, you may consider bringing a handkerchief to wipe your face in case you plan to splash water on your face during breaks or wipe off any smudge on your specs. Even, that innocent piece of cloth isn't allowed sadly and has to be kept in the locker{ not in your bag}. In short, you can access your locker during the breaks but your bag ( consider untouchable).
The test center infrastructure is very good and is in line with what GMAT claims. But, please do not violate any rules the guys are very strict in there and can cancel your score. Ask what considers to be a violation to mitigate gray areas.

I will be re-taking the GMAT again and my performance was not even close to my preparation levels. Things can go out of hand pretty quickly even before you realize. I learned a lot from this experience and want the folks in the community to not learn the HARD way.

Please, reach out if you have any queries.

P.S It is a long review, but believe me I didn't want to leave any areas unexplored so that people can anticipate and prepare for what's coming.

Thank you for your review of the WTC GMAT test-taking center! I was kinda looking forward to reading someone's experience with that center as I'm about to retake my GMAT & would be picking that. If you're also retaking in the next month, let me know if you'd like to practice together sometime? I have a few friends who study with me but they might be moving away from Pune.

Hi, @sharmishthabalwan I hope you're doing well and your prep is going well!

I am also preparing for a re-take and would take the test roughly in a month's time.

It would be a good idea to connect.

I will send you ping in the gmatclub inbox.

Pearson Pune Test Center

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Pearson VUE Test Center is situated at Chaitanya Nagar, Kothrud, Pune.

The test centre is very easy to find.

The supervisor is very helpful.
Once you reach the centre you are asked to keep all your belongings in a locker. They provide you with the key for the same.

You have to switch off your electronic devices before putting them in the locker.

Then, you are asked to provide your identification documents. Post this you will have to put your palm on the scan machine and also get a picture of yourself clicked.

There is no disturbance in the surrounding so you can give a noise free attempt.

All in all a good experience and I would recommend all in Pune to book your test at this centre.

***
There are only two GMAT exam centers in Pune:
1. GATS (Old)
2. Pearson Professional Centers (New)

GATS was the exam center for my first attempt in 2017. My experience was not good and was similar to the one described in this review: https://gmatclub.com/reviews/comments/gmat-test-center-345349772.

***

=====================
My second attempt was on 15th Dec'18 at Pearson Professional Centers (Tower2, WTC, Kharadi). My overall test center experience was fruitful.

I will try to jot down the overall experience in a very succinct manner to help one take a right decision pertaining to the selection of the test center.

1. Location
- Well known and easy to find.

2. Parking
- Enough space for 2/4 wheelers.

3. Washroom
- Clean and tidy ;)

4. Test center security
- Very tight (Don't think about breaking it!)

5. Test center invigilators
- Very strict and are born to follow protocols!

6. Earbuds or headphone or nothing!
- 3M PELTOR Optime 98, H9A Over-the-Head Earmuffs are there on every table if you want to have a noise free exam experience

7. Lockers
- One is assigned a private locker to keep "ALL" the belongings (Read summary to know more about 'ALL')

8. Are you thirsty? Don't worry!
- A cold/hot water dispenser is available

9. Environment
- Silent and bright

10. Temperature
- Moderate (Not too hot, not too cold)

11. Keyboard & mouse
- Great quality (The condition is good so don't worry about sounds)

12. Chair
- Very comfortable (I feel like an ergonomic expert now. Woohoo!)

13. One scratchpad & two marker pens
- Good condition (Read more in summary)

*Summary*

- One is asked (by a security personnel) to switch off the mobile phone before entering the test center waiting area

- The waiting area, where the verification process is done, is separated from the actual area where you will fight the WAR.

- One needs to keep "ALL" the belongings in the locker. "ALL" includes your handkerchief too! (Jackets/wallets/Water bottles/ Snacks/ Digital items.......everything)

- After the verification process is completed, you will be asked to enter the WAR room where you will take your exam.

- The monitor will have a camera to monitor your activity throughout the exam (It also helps the invigilators to respond to your call for assistance)

- The marker pen is of good quality, but it drys up quickly if you keep it open even for 10 to 15 seconds. Some of the way outs are: put back the cap quickly or ask for a new pen or hard press the nip on the pad.

- You can come out of the "WAR" room into the waiting area during break time to eat snacks or celebrate the mistakes committed in the verbal section! (Every time you will be checked thoroughly by the invigilators)

- The test center is completely shielded from the noise outside

======================
I am sure that you all will ROCK the exam. All the best! :D

Cheers,
Yoda

Has anyone recently been to this center? I am thinking of travelling from Mumbai to Pune since Maharashtra College of Arts & Science is a terrible test center and it's the only one in Mumbai with available dates.

Zero Noise

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

this center is really great for giving the exam because they have soundproofed everything, and even the instructor is good, there are many advantages of this test center first, its location, even though Pune city is quite large and it has only two exam center for GMAT by Pearson Vue, it is strategically placed, second, Staff is very polite, they have everything very well arranged in there, so you cant get confused, restroom is very clean, proper arrangement for hot and cold water, it is on the 3rd floor of the building, even if you forget to bring some thing such as Xerox, there is a stationary shop down the building , thus i highly reccomend this center if you are residing in pune

Review of Pune GMAT test center

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by gmat club tests [?]

Test center is easily accessible . On Maps ,one can easily track it .On reaching the location it might be a little difficult to spot where exactly it is , but there is sign board by the road that can guide you.
Staff is extremely polite and way too helpful. You get lockers to keep your stuff. Only passport and notepad and pen that is provided is allowed.Water is not allowed. Jackets are not allowed to keep with you. IF you want to wear and go ,then it is ok else they will ask to keep in locker.
Restroom is not good. Door knob was not working ,so couldn't use it .
External noises are an issue when you take afternoon slot and by luck get to be close to window seat. Mine was in morning , so noises were minimum.
Also ear plugs are provided , so you can opt for it to have noise cancellation.
For retake i don't have any other option as PUne has only this test center so probably yes , will have to chose this again.
Pearson should consider opening enough test centers in PUne.
Also there are only 12-15 slots only , so if your application deadline is near , prefer booking in advance

Great experience

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

The center is well marked on google maps and easy to spot. The staff was polite and courteous. The computers werent the latest but were good enough for the test. I didnt face any issue with logging in or logging out during the entire test. The inviligator made sure I was seated back before my break time elapsed which was really nice. There were 5 other students giving multiple types of exams and everyone was well instructed about all the rules. I got my score promptly without any issues. The test center was peaceful and didnt have any distractions. If you are looking at this center for an exam then please go right ahead and book it.
