Hi

Need Help!

I have gone through a lot of articles regarding how a low gpa hampers your chances of getting into a top B school, but i still haven't found what i am looking for. As far as i know, the reason top b schools want you to have a good gpa is that they basically want to know whether the candidate has a quantitative mind. So if a student doesn't have that, the schools encourage students to take a few courses that will be able to demonstrate their quantitative ability. i am not saying the if you don't know how to handle math, you won't be able to do well in your MBA. All i am saying is that math seems to be one of the major pieces of the academic perspective of an MBA.

I am a math graduate ( Bachelor of Science in Mathematics) from Delhi University, which is a tier 1 university as per my knowledge. Seems pretty heavy right? hehe :D . The only problem is that my overall gpa is 2.3 on a scale of 4. Though my final year gpa is an 3.20 on a scale of 4, top 5, if not top 3, in my batch. I have done really well in subjects such as Differential Calculus and mathematical modelling, Probability and statistics, mathematical analysis etc etc. I clearly am pretty okay/confident when it comes to math. i haven't given my gmat yet, but will try my level best to cross the 730 mark. I do understand the fact that both the gmat and the gpa are not the only pieces of the puzzle, but they do seem important as they not only create a certain perception, but also help the adcoms in understanding how the candidate will handle the academic rigour. Rest depends on the essays and obviously the work ex.

So what sort of an impact a math degree with a low overall gpa, but a good final year gpa, from a tier 1 university will have? What are the consequences that i am looking at?

i am looking at LBS , INSEAD , Oxford, IESE , Cambridge , ISB

Hi folks!

I am very new to the GMAT prep and still discovering US B-schools, I want your opinion on my profile. Please help!

I am a 27y/o Indian Male, commerce under-grad from Delhi University I was a college topper for all six semesters and was actively involved in debation society (VP of the club) and commerce club. I have a *2 years gap* post that, my financial condition was in ruins so I moved back to my small hometown and gave tuition classes to kids.
Anyway, I got admission to a government Indian B-School where more than 60% of my fees were waived. I have a dual major in Finance and Marketing was in the top 10% of the class academically and was also the first one to get placed on campus.
10th ICSE - 88%, 12th ISC-84%, Bachelor of Commerce- 85%, MBA- 85%

Work-ex: I have 2 years and 3 months (3 years by June 2022) of experience in consulting. I joined a Big 4 from my campus in Deal Advisory and Research and have exposure to Strategy and M&A. I got promoted to Senior within 1 year and 3 months in that firm. After spending exactly 2 years in my first Big4 I moved to Management Consulting in another Big 4 in the Deals and Strategy team.

I plan to move to MBB in Strategy consulting in US (Big 4 fallback option) or FAANG strategic roles.

I am looking to join one year MBA at Cornell and Kellog or 16 months program of Columbia or 20 months program at Wharton(far-fetch dream).
Does my profile make the cut. I have scored around 93%ile in CAT (Indian GMAT) so I am pretty sure I can score above 700 in GMAT very easily.
Do you think I can get a shortlist and what are the pros and cons of my profile?

Thanks in advance

I am seeking to level up the skills I have acquired in the past experiences and apply the knowledge in regard to business management. For that purpose, I am looking forward to pursuing an MBA program from a top-grade B-School in CANADA that can provide me the essential skills which are required to achieve the goals of the industries to grow significantly.

I was concerned about the academic criteria which are 75% for the bachelor's degree required which I am willing to compensate by GMAT's score of 680 (I have got 66% in Mechanical Engineering course)
Here are some brief details about my profile :

Name - Sagar Subhash Patil
Age - 25
City/Country - Palghar, India
Undergraduate degree - Bachelors of engineering in Mechanical engineering
Percentage/CGPA - 66% / 7.5
Work experience - 1) 2+ years worked as a Maintenance Engineer and Project Engineer (Jr Executive) in MNC
2) Founded own firm named Activ24 Foods and Oils ( Now working as Managing Director)
IELTS - Overall 7 ( Not less than 6.5)
GMAT - Expected score 650-680
German language proficiency - B1 level certification
Participations in National level competition (In bachelor)
Certifications for design software i.e. NX-CAD (certification by Siemens)
Volunteered for an NGO named as 'Happiness Spring'
Google certified course for Project Management

So, my concerned question is as to which Canadian universities I am eligible to apply to??
Expecting your assistance before applying.

Thanks.
Sagar P.
